Boyz N The Hood

November 2024
My little brother showed my family this movie last night, saying that it quickly became a favorite of his and that it really changed the way he saw things. I was looking forward to watching it, especially because it was a "certified hood classic", according to Star.
There's a lot I can say about this movie, but I wouldn't know where to start and where to end. All I will say is that it was incredible, and conveyed so many important messages that still apply to America today.
Arcane
Season 2

November 2024
I don't know if I'll ever encounter a piece of media as well-written, beautifully animated, and overall amazing as Arcane again. Because of this show, I've picked up art again, and I got to experience fandom culture again for the first time in years. For a while now, I've been thinking about how much I miss being in fandoms, because I didn't really find anything exciting anymore. But Arcane changed that — and the fandom is AMAZING too. I'm hoping to make a shrine for the show, or for some of my favorite characters/ships; I'm super excited to do so once I have the time. I've had so much fun since the release of season 2, and I'm really looking forward to Noxus's story next.

September 2024
Star and I went into this show knowing nothing — not even the plot. And yet, Beef has changed my life. I didn't realize how important representation was until this, even for myself. This show just felt so incredibly raw and real, and I loved the way they portrayed mental health. It was the first time I'd seen depression represented so well in media, and seeing this done by Asian-Americans just made it hit home. I've thought about this show so much ever since I finished it. I think it gave me an answer to a question I've been asking my entire life. It's not the answer I wanted, but it's been comforting to know that I'm not alone in this feeling.
Fairy Tail

July 2024
With the 100 Years Quest coming out, I had to go back and rewatch the original series. When I was a kid, maybe around nine to ten years old, I used to rush my homework so that I could go back to watching Fairy Tail. Even now, at twenty, I found myself eager to finish writing lab reports so that I could go back and binge Fairy Tail. I love this show with my entire heart, mostly because of the nostalgia.
The Case Study of Vanitas

I picked this up on a whim, after recognizing the name from a conversation with a friend. I was obsessed with Mochizuki's previous series, Pandora Hearts, in Middle School, so I was excited to finally watch this new series. It was really good, and I found myself in the slightest bit of VaniJeanne brainrot after finishing it. I reallllyyyy ship these two, and I'm really happy that they're somewhat canon! Even with a good amount of content out, it really feels like the story is just beginning to unravel, and I'm excited to see what the author has in store.

Star and I started this show because we needed something to watch while we ate Cane's, and I instantly got hooked. I think this was one of the only things that kept me going during the first few weeks of summer school, because new episodes were still being released. I'm not a huge fan of the art style, but the animation was amazing. I really enjoyed the story though, and went back to reread the manga a few times. I'm super excited for more to come!
Frieren

December 2023
Genuinely the best anime I've ever watched. I watched this maybe half a year to a year ago, so I should rewatch it to remember why I felt this way. I loved how refreshing it was though, while being healing at the same time. With most shows, books, or stories, I'm always really impatient to see what happens next. As much as I hate it, I'm always rushing to the destination, instead of enjoying the journey to it. With Frieren, I really enjoyed the slow pace of the characters' journey. I'll definitely be rewatching this soon, and hopefully I'll be able to say more about it.
